கொல்லிப்பாவை – Deity of Kolli Hills
© All Rights Reserved
There are many references to Kolli Malai Pāvai and Kolli Hills in Sangam literature. This is a deity on the Kolli hills in Tamil Nadu. The Kolli hills were ruled by one of the seven Tamil Vallals – Valvil Ori.
The deity is described as fierce in some poems, and as graceful in others. Some poems say that the gods created the Kolli Pāvai. One poem talks about it like it is a painting. Natrinai 192 and 362 have descriptions of the pāvai as being a moving one with some kind of gadget – வினை அமை பாவையின் இயலி.
